AN OVERVIEW OF THE OPUS(tm) SYSTEM
OPUS(tm) is a sophisticated BBS (Bulletin Board System)
which supports a broad array of services for the
transfer of Electronic Mail and the exchange of Public Domain
software. It is, in short, a truly integrated BBS which
brings state-of-the-art information and data exchange
capabilities to each user. The powerful functions of OPUS(tm)
are further enhanced by a menu-driven user interface which is
both fast and friendly.
In its traditional role, OPUS(tm) supports a large number of
file transfer capabilities, specialty file areas, file related
services and multiple file exchange protocols. But the real
power of OPUS(tm) lies in its Electronic Mail capabilities.
These EM (Electronic Mail) services allow a user to link to a
variety of other Bulletin Boards on a National or world wide
basis. Electronic Mail of virtually any variety can be accommo-
dated. Such services as private/public Conferencing, multi-
BBS discussions, EchoMail and mail file transfer are all avail-
able through OPUS(tm).

File Exchange Services in the Public Domain
-------------------------------------------
PD OPUS(tm) supports the exchange of Public Domain software files
with a variety of popular transfer protocols and
includes a sophisticated file management segregation system.
As a BBS system you will find OPUS(tm) to be fast, flexible
and friendly. OPUS(tm) has been designed to actively support
the Public Domain and is itself IN the Public Domain.
A word about the Public Domain. Software files in the Public
Domain can be found in every conceivable shape and variety.
Underlying their individual differences, though, they all have
one element in common -- they are not sold commercially nor
available through the traditional "commercial marketplace".
These programs are created by computer enthusiasts and
software engineers for their own use or for the general

public. Therefore, the quality of Public Domain material varies
greatly depending upon the author's capabilities and the
specific application in mind. It is not uncommon to find
Public Domain software which is far more sophisticated, of a
better design quality, and often with better implementation
features than its commercial counterparts. The OPUS(tm)
system has been designed to actively support the continuation
of the Public Domain exchange of software and information
through many of its inherent features.
